Veterinarian

Dr. David Grant graduated from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. Following graduation, David worked in small and mixed animal practices in various locations in California, including the eastern Sierra town of Bridgeport. David also spent one year in a small animal surgical internship in West Los Angeles.

Dr. Grant joined Codornices Veterinary Clinic in 2004. David lives in El Cerrito with his wife Astrid, their two children Emma and Ben, David’s faithful friend Ruby (a terrier mix), his boisterous puppy Tilly (a terrier mix), Astrid’s loyal guardian Munchie (a Poodle-Chihuahua mix), David’s 18-year-old cat Haley.

Veterinarian

Dr. Erica Gurley graduated from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. She spent one year at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she completed an internship. In 2003, she returned to the Bay Area, where she was raised, and she joined Codornices Veterinary Clinic in 2010.

Dr. Andrew Lie

Veterinarian

Dr. Lie joined Codornices Veterinary Clinic full time in 2019. Prior to that, he had practiced in San Francisco and San Rafael since 2006, when his wife and he relocated to the Bay Area from Minneapolis. He graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Tennessee. In 2018, he successfully completed the requirements to maintain his credentials as a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP), specializing in canine and feline practice. Dr. Lie has a strong interest in all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially infectious disease, endocrinology, dermatology, dentistry, soft-tissue surgery, and those fiendish international health certificates. He also collaborates with other specialists in our area. Dr. Lie lives with his wife, a three-legged cat named Nigel, and a mostly well-behaved San Jose street dog Kaweah. In his free time, he can be found running on the local trails, backpacking in the Sierra and beyond, or cooking and baking in the kitchen.
Dr. Adrienne Bentley

Veterinarian

Dr. Adrienne Bentley graduated from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She continued her veterinary training at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, completing a large animal internship and medicine residency, and became board-certified in large animal internal medicine. After moving to California to be closer to her family, she made the transition into small animal practice.

Dr. Bentley grew up in Berkeley and is happy to be back in the Bay Area and working at Codornices Veterinary Clinic, where her own pets were patients before she became a veterinarian herself. She lives in the East Bay with her husband and two young children and has a cattle dog mix named Beckham.

Dr. Regina Yoo

Dr. Regina Yoo

Veterinarian, Medical Director

Dr. Regina Yoo graduated from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002, alongside Dr. Erica Gurley and Dr. Andrew Lie.  Her career in the veterinary field began at Codornices Veterinary Clinic in 1997 as a receptionist and veterinary assistant.  During veterinary school, Dr. Yoo worked at Codornices during her summer breaks until she joined Codornices as an associate veterinarian in 2003. She had the privilege of working with Dr. Richard Hack for many years until he retired.  

Dr. Yoo lives in Alameda with her husband and their three teenagers.  Her family also includes a rambunctious, goofy pittie named Auggie and an adorable but spicy chihuahua mix named Hazel.  Hazel keeps Auggie on his toes! Dr. Yoo’s hobbies include traveling, hiking, listening to true crime podcasts, and attending concerts.

Veterinarian

Dr. Ruochen Wu joined the Codornices Veterinary Clinic team in July 2025. She brings a passion for clinical and anatomic pathology. Her background includes working as a pathology assistant at the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Lab and completing clinical rotations with a focus on specialty care and underserved communities through WisCAREs. When not caring for pets, Dr. Wu enjoys painting, crocheting, and spending time with friends—and with her kitten, Toto, a playful shelf-climber and expert ball-chaser. Dr. Wu is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Ashley has always had a deep passion for animals. She began her career in pet retail, working with reptile and aquatic enthusiasts, and later moved into management roles focused on educating teams about proper animal care. Her desire to make a greater impact led her to the veterinary field, where she now manages hospitals and continues to grow in the industry. Ashley finds fulfillment in knowing her work improves the lives of both animals and their owners.

Lead Registered Veterinary Technician

Marjorie is our technician supervisor with over 11 years of experience in the vet field at Codornices and seven years as a registered vet tech. She also works at an emergency clinic and runs her own pet care business in the comfort of people’s homes. Marjorie is passionate about anesthetic procedures and calming anxious pets, especially fearful cats. At home, she cares for 10 fishes, a guinea pig named Marshmallow, a cat named Luna, and two dogs named Gasper and Marley.

Jennifer

Jennifer has always loved animals. She started her vet career here at Codornices back in 2020 and recently graduated from Carrington College and became an RVT! She loves to assist with surgeries and helping animals overall. She has a cat named Rio and a dog named Peluche, and a new puppy named Kiwi.

Muhammad

Registered Veterinary Technician

Muhammad has been in the vet field since 2017 and has been at Codornices since the end of 2022, and recently became an RVT! He loves to assist with dentals as it is more hands-on. He has grown up with dogs and has learned a lot throughout the years, loves helping animals, and seeing the gratification they have. He has 2 snakes named Basil and Versace.

Monica

Veterinary Technician

Monica has been in the vet field for over 7 years and has been with Codornices since the beginning of 2023. She started volunteering at the San Francisco Zoo back in 2018 while in College as a biology major and started her journey in the vet field. She then went on to an internship with the Oakland Zoo from 2021 and also worked at the Oakland Animal Services at the same time! She is currently enrolled to become an RVT and will be done in the fall of 2026! She loves to work with small dogs like chihuahuas (spicy or not). She has three cats named Mocha, Luna, and Lana, and a dog named Rocky.

Nancy has been in the vet field for over 42 years, having been with Codornices for over 8 years! Her first ever word was “Dog”! She loves to assist with all pets, and loves animals who love affection. She absolutely loves trivia: “The elephant is the only land mammal that can not jump”. She has a dog named Sally and 2 kitties named Henry and Wally.

Veterinary Assistant

Destiny started her vet career back in 2020 as a veterinary technician. Helping animals is a passion she absolutely loved and it was a position that stuck with her so much that she ended up going to Carrington College and became an RVT! She has three dogs named Sadie, Princess and Tonka.

Veterinary Assistant/Inventory Manager

Tira has been in the vet field for over 32 years, having been with Codornices for 11 years. She loves assisting in exploratory surgeries and also has her own house-call business for dogs and cats with helping administer medications, nail trims, and more! Although she is a dog lover at heart, she has two kitties named Astro Monkey and Mousse.

Veterinary Assistant/Client Service Representative

Abi started her vet journey when she was 13 years old volunteering at Western Riverside Animal Shelter for about 5 years. She moved to the Bay Area from So-Cal back in 2018 for college and started back in the vet field in 2023. She loves to assist with cat x-rays and sedated procedures. She loves animals with inanimate names like Table, Suitcase and Rocket. She has a 12 year old dog named Blossom.

Allison has always had an interest in vet medicine, and when she graduated from High School volunteered at Codornices and became an animal assistant! She has always been in awe of vet medicine, so her goal is to become an RVT. She is interested in spay/neuter procedures and loves to cuddle with puppies and kittens. She has 6 chickens, a bird named Benny, a cat named Melo, and a dog named Otis.

Stephanie has been in the vet field for over 7 years starting as a CSR for a few years and making her way into animal assisting. She weirdly absolutely loves to help with abscess and anal glands. She has been with Codornices since the end of 2022 and recently became a Co-Lead CSR! She has a dog named Seymour Butts.

Lead Client Service Representative

Miranda has been in the animal field since she was 14 years old in High School helping with rescuing feral cats with Trap-Neuter-Return. In 2021 she received her Animal Assisting license and just recently became a Lead CSR here at Codornices! Over her career she has grown to love cats even more and is intrigued by seeing cat CT scans. She has two cats named Vega and Lunabelle and a dog named Riley.
